Adding a Sheen to 9/11

Probably the most mainstream media attention the 9/11 truth movement has received happened on CNN when Charlie Sheen came forward to admit he had questions about the official 9/11 story. He was joined by a favorite of many who listen to c2c, including myself, Alex Jones.

The poll that followed at CNN had amazing results. 82% of responders agreed with Sheen and Jones even with the Republican/Conservative newsgroups and websites urging their members to vote. I have watched many polls at CNN and other new sites and have rarely (in fact, never) seen what could be considered a partisan issue with such lopsided results. Normally the polling stays somewhat even, eventually one side out does the other, but not by such a wide margin. I found this poll very interesting to say the least. What I also found interesting is that I never have heard it’s results mentioned on any newscast. Except for the FOX show Hannity and Combs to my knowledge none of the Sheen comments or poll results have been mentioned on any news show. You would think that a poll showing that 82% of Americans don’t trust their government to tell the truth would be a big new story, but apparently not. Yes, I know that it isn’t a scientific poll, but many other polls taken by CNN, FOX news and MSNBC seem to be given far more attention and even some creditability.

From the beginning there were several things working against this becoming a major news story. The first is that it wasn’t a news show that had the interviews with Sheen and Jones, it was a entertainment show, Showbiz Tonight. It was easy to hide it in there with the silly Hollywood stuff so it wouldn’t be noticed by people who watch the “real news.”

Second, the poll results came right before the weekend and as we all know none of the news channels really report anything on the weekend.

Then you have the fact that Sheen is a easy target due to his known drug use and history of hookers and sex scandals. None of those things should discredit his opinion, but it is easy for the opposition to use those to distract attention from the real issue. They would mostly certainly use this if the “real news” started paying too much attention to anything Charlie Sheen had to say.

Still, even with all that said I am hopeful that Sheen will have some effect on bringing some light to the 9/11 truth movement. I am not a firm believer in any or all of the theories associated with this, but I am not a believer in the accepted explanation either. There is a overwhelming nagging feeling I have that the whole truth in not being told about the events leading up to 9/11 or 9/11 itself. The 9/11 commission was never set up to discover the truth. The people appointed to this commission were appointed to cover the asses of the ones who at the very least were responsible for not having heeded any of the warnings signs of what was going to happen. Although, I believe there is much more to it than the lack of response to a obvious threat, that would still be a good starting point for a true investigation.

Although I have given several reason above as to why this is not covered there is another reason. I don’t want to have to say the mainstream news media is in the pocket of the White House and Government, but at the very least they want as little trouble from that group and their corporate sponsors as possible. Why make life hard for themselves by reporting things that might actually be important and that at the very least many people would like covered? Everyone says the news media is in it for rating, but yet they ignore things like this that could potentially be a ratings bonanza. I guess they are in it for ratings as long as the White House and their corporate sponsors aren’t effected.

As I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher last week it was obvious that Seth Green and Erica Jong wanted to talk about 9/11 conspiracy theories, they were quickly interrupted by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher who changed the subject to how Reagan won the cold war, or something similar.

I think at best the most we will get from the news media is if enough people are interested they will actually have a couple shows about the 9/11 conspiracy theories, but the theories will be explained away, just like they do with JFK conspiracy or aliens.

I could now go into one of my long new media rants, but I won’t. Instead, I will just say that if you are getting most or all of your news from CNN, FOX, MSNBC or any other mainstream source you are not being well informed on the world. Yes, there is a lot of speculation on the internet to sift through, but better to open your mind to some alternative news sources than to be stuck with only what the mainstream wants to tell you.
