UFO Disclosure with a Capital "D"

Recently I had an interesting conversation with Tim Binnall for the new BoA: Audio spin-off series After Hours. We touched on many topics but perhaps the most controversial subject discussed was UFO Disclosure and why I think it will probably "never come." After I said this Tim went quiet for a moment. I think that I surprised him with my pessimism. Either he totally disagreed with me or he knew much of the audience would. So this fortnight in Room 101, I thought it might be a good idea to explain just why when it comes to UFO Disclosure with a capital "D" (Government confirmation of an extraterrestrial presence) I'm still a bit of a doubting Thomas.

First, I should make it clear that I definitely believe that there could be some non-human (at least as we understand human) or 'alien' intelligence in control of what we call "genuine UFOs." Although its difficult to know exactly what form that intelligence might take or its origins, we could be dealing with extraterrestrial aliens just like in the films. That said, I suspect it is probably a lot more complicated than that.

One of the more esoteric theories that has intrigued me is the possibility that most other life in the Multiverse might exist outside of our 'normal' universe in other dimensions. Perhaps popping into our reality from time to time for a quick visit...it would certainly explain a lot of UFO and even ghost accounts where phenomena suddenly just disappears. If true, such a hypothesis could also go a long way to providing us with an answer to the famous Fermi paradox. (The apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilisations and the lack of evidence for, or contact with, such civilisations.) The 'aliens' could be literally sitting in your living room and you would probably be none the wiser.

Back to UFO Disclosure. With the French (and now the British) government finally declassifying their UFO files; Moon walking astronauts admitting aliens are real; and Larry King doing UFO special after UFO special on CNN, I can certainly understand why many people believe Disclosure is imminent. However (far from government confirmation of an extraterrestrial presence) I personally think what we're witnessing is, at best, more along the lines of government confirmation of a legitimate UFO mystery or what might be called disclosure with a small "d."

Although I believe its possible that the US government might have recovered UFO technology and perhaps even 'alien' bodies. I also think that if they have them its extremely unlikely that they'll ever let the world know about it.

Lets say, for the sake of argument, that the US government does indeed possess UFO technology and bodies, that doesn't necessarily mean they know where the 'aliens' come from; who or what they are; what their agenda is; or how their technology works. Put in other words, all the things the public would probably demand to know if the US government ever admitted that they really had 'alien' technology and bodies (or any other "smoking gun" evidence of an 'alien' intelligence behind the UFO mystery.) So, until they figure all that stuff out, I don't think their going to release any hard "smoking gun" evidence of 'aliens.' And, since we're likely dealing with technology at least hundreds to perhaps millions of years in advance of us, I don't think this will happen anytime soon.

These were the reasons I raised for my scepticism in my talk with Tim, however, there is another major reason I wish I'd raised in hindsight. That is basically that you can't just have a little bit of Disclosure when it comes to something as big as UFO technology and dead 'alien' bodies, its all or nothing. Think about it, if the US government ever come out and admit to something as fantastic as they've been hiding the existence of 'aliens' for over sixty years then almost anything becomes feasible. All those topics that the mainstream media and official culture now ignore or worse ridicule (everything from the Kennedy assassinations to 9/11 truth) suddenly become legitimate in a post-Disclosure world. Put simply, Disclosure would finally allow the public to ask their leaders some very, VERY serious questions without any fear of ridicule. These are questions which I strongly suspect those in power will do anything they can to avoid.

There are two ways though I do think Disclosure could take place within the next few decades. One is that the 'aliens' themselves might decide to finally somehow make their presence known to the whole of mankind. Perhaps flying giant sized craft over major cities like in the film Independence Day. But, given the fact that people seem to have been seeing UFOs since at least Biblical times, this probably won't happen anytime soon.

The other, and perhaps the more likely, is that the US government might try to spin Disclosure to use it for their own political advantage. Much like 9/11 was used as a pretext to clamp down on civil liberties at home and wage wars abroad, similarly a new 'alien' threat could be used to unite the nations of the world behind America and step up the national security state. However, at present a new Cold War with Russia and China seems like a far more likely replacement for the stalling War on Terror. As with so many other things we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
