Grey Matter

Three Years!

I have now been writing Grey Matters at BoA for three years. Wow! I suppose that I knew that (since we are on Season III of BoA:Audio) and yet maybe not consciously knew it, because I was a little shocked when Tim mentioned it.

When I first started, I really didn't think I would still be writing Grey Matters three years later. I thought that even if I managed to come up with something to write about every week, nobody would want to read it and Tim would politely ask me to go away. I write pretty much the same as I speak, which probably lacks quite a bit in the style department. I have no "fluffy words" as I call them. Every once in a while one comes to mind, but not normally.

Nonetheless, 3 years later, I am still here and I know that at least a few people read Grey Matters.

I will always be very grateful to Tim Binnall for emailing and asking me to write for Binnall of America. Writing Grey Matters has given me a great deal of confidence that I did not have before. I had a news blog, but very rarely wrote an actual post. I know I have probably said all that before, but it is completely true and I want to repeat it for those who may have missed it.

I guess, in a way, I also owe thanks to the now dearly departed Coast to Coast Streamlink Forum, because that is about the only place I did write anything and that is where Tim found me. Well, writing at Streamlink is a bit of an exaggeration, it was mostly arguing as I remember.

Of course, now the problem seems to be that I never shut up, so far as writing goes. There is my UFO Magazine column and I think I have lost count of the amount of blogs I have, but I use all of them (not daily though) including myspace. Also, now that I am the new web mistress at the UFO Magazine Blog, I plan to start posting there somewhat regularly as well.

BoA is still the same, but even better than when I started writing here. Better in that is has more columnists, all of them top notch I might add. Also, three seasons of fantastic audio interviews with most of the best esoteric researchers.

Sometimes I wonder what I would be doing if I had never started writing for BoA. Likely I would be reading a lot more and there is nothing wrong with that, but it isn't very interactive. I would probably be watching a lot more TV which probably wouldn't be a good thing and also isn't interactive. Writing itself isn't interactive, but after it is posted or published somewhere, you hear from people who are interested in the same types of subjects and so it becomes interactive.

I have met lots of really great people since I started writing at BoA. A few duds, but really 99% of the people I have met are nice people who have the same interests as myself. It would be pretty hard to meet many of those types without the internet and so I am thankful for BoA and the internet in general. It is nice knowing that I am not the only weirdo on earth who spends time thinking about such subjects.

Unless some unforeseen and horrible event occurs, such as the entire internet completely crashing, I'm sure that I will still be typing away at BoA at this time next year.
